noun BRITISH informal
a form of camping involving accommodation and facilities more luxurious than those associated with traditional camping."glamping is likely to satisfy any city slicker seeking a little refuge in nature—without foregoing any of life's luxuries"
We don't really like the term 'glamping' as most glamping sites end up looking like static holiday parks, with 'glamping units' set out in a grid and with very little space inbetween. That's fine if you're into that sort of thing, but what we offer here at Hidden Valley couldn't be further from this. The incredible generously spaced pitches* at Hidden Valley Camping give each tent its own privacy and plenty of level space to sit outside around the campfire and enjoy the stunning views.
Bell Tent Boutique - 5m 360gsm Fireproof Pro Bell Tent with stove hole.
Our 2 gorgeous five metre 'fully furnished' Bell Tents (supplied by Bell Tent Boutique) are set on individual plateaus on the east facing slope of the valley. They are sumptuously furnished with just about everything you’ll need and come complete with their own wood burning stove, fire pit, grill, kettle, and a cooking tripod with a Dutch Oven in which you can cook just about anything from bread to a roast dinner. Each of our furnished bell tents now has it's own kitchen shelter too.
NEW FOR 2018: We also offer an unfurnished bell tent, for those of you who would like to sleep under canvas but have all of your own camping gear. Although we call it 'unfurnished' there is actually a double bed with a real mattress to add a little bit of comfort to your stay, and also a fire pit outside for you to stare at during the evenings.
Our fully furnished bell tents (The Brambles and Dingle View) contain everything you need for a luxurious and care-free break. There is a double bed, plus camping beds available upon request for extra guests. There is also a double ring gas stove in our new kitchen shelter, plus all the pots, pans and utensils you’ll need for your stay. Best of all there is a wood burning stove to keep you warm if the evenings or mornings get a bit chilly.
We provide an initial ‘fire pack’ comprising of a basket of logs, a bundle of kindling, fire-lighters and a box of matches. More of all of these can be bought from our honesty shop.
We suggest you bring a torch and a battery powered light for use inside the tent and for those midnight toilet trips, as well as sleeping bags for the kids, wellies, warm clothing, towels, tea towels, dish cloths or sponges, and food.
Dingley Dell, our unfurnished bell tent, contains just a double bed with mattress and bottom sheet, coconut matting on the floor and a fire basket outside. You will need to bring everything else to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
The Bell Tents are just a stroll from the toilet, shower and washing-up facilities and are just a short walk from the carpark. The site itself is car free and off grid (no power in the tents). Wheelbarrows are available to cart your belongings from car to tent.
Minimum booking for our bell tents is 2 nights (3 nights over Bank holidays). Please email us with any queries to email@example.com.
* This term is common place on many glamping and camping websites, and from my experience seems to mean that there is a couple of metres between tents. At Hidden Valley, your nearest neighbour would have difficulty hearing you if you shouted to them. Now that's what we call spacious!
* Dogs are allowed in your own tents, but are currently not allowed in the bell tents.
** Price includes up to 2 adults. Extra guests are charged accordingly.
